Don't You Wanna Be Fine? started as an argument I was having with myself. It's about being born, living, making mistakes, taking the wrong path, hurting people, embarrassing yourself, and still somehow ending up at the same place everyone else does.
I kept thinking about the imaginary version of a life where you made all the “right” choices, and whether that life really gets a different ending. If it doesn't, then who gets to decide which version was good or bad?
01 / GUITAR
Geoff Nelson has been a big part of shaping the way Valley Taylor sounds, and working on this song with him helped push it beyond what I would have made on my own. His guitar work has a way of adding movement and emotion without crowding the song, which became really important to how this one developed.
02 / PIANO + ARRANGEMENT
Devin Zamora brought another layer to the song through his piano playing and the way he approaches arrangement. He tends to find small musical ideas that change the emotional weight of a section, and those details helped the song feel more complete while still keeping the loose, imperfect quality I wanted.
